The awards showcase outstanding best practice in FM and we were proud to submit five excellent nominations on behalf of teams and initiatives from across the UK and Ireland. ISS achieved success in the following categories:

  • Team of the Year: Non-private sector – Royal Derby Hospital Portering Team, ISS UK
  • Social Value: JointForces@ISS, ISS UK
  • Technology: ISS ServicePoint – A technology solution for better patient care

Attending one of the first major FM events since lockdown, Liz Benison, CEO, ISS UK & Ireland, commented,

We are absolutely delighted with the results. We had some great shortlisted nominations and the three wins were genuinely deserved – Derby’s Porterage team, our ServicePoint solution and the JointForces@ISS programme. These awards showcase the excellence we deliver for our customers, and underpin our strategy around technology, inclusion and great workplace experiences. I am so proud of our incredible placemakers, well done to the teams.”

Award-winning projects

The award wins showcase private and public sector impact, ranging from our social value work with veterans, through to the staunch support delivered by our ISS Portering team at Royal Derby Hospital:

Social Value – gaining from our veterans

Supporting veterans back into employment after leaving the armed forces, the JointForces@ISS programme has made a huge difference to many individuals and their families since it started in 2017. With 15,000 people transitioning every year, JointForces@ISS delivers value to society by reskilling and upskilling a large community who face significant barriers into employment. The programme forms a valuable part of the ISS commitment to making the world work better whilst supporting our diverse and inclusive workplace. Click here to read more about JointForces@ISS

Technology excellence in Healthcare

A great example of how technology can enable ISS to positively impact customers and the challenges they face day-to-day. ServicePoint is a smart and efficient way for clinical workers to communicate with the FM Helpdesk when telephones are unavailable or out of reach. The solution has saved the equivalent of 190+ clinical shifts at one site. Click here to read the full story

Team of the Year – Portering Team at Derby Hospital

The 160+ strong Portering team at Derby Hospital typically handles 78,000 patient-related moves a year and is integral to the flow of the site and to the performance of the hospital. The ISS Portering team has a direct impact on the patients that they serve, often being the friendly face at the start and end of a hospital visit. In addition to the tough challenges they have experienced through Covid, the team continues to deliver above and beyond their duties to have an outstanding impact for the hospital.

IWFM Chair Mark Whittaker’s address at the ceremony reflect the awards and winners perfectly as demonstrating, "…the fundamental contribution that the workplace and facilities sector is making to contemporary challenges at every level, from front line care to smart innovation".
