Boosting cleaning with ISS cobots in a flagship technology store

Challenge

Reopening after the Covid-19 lockdown, the cleaning scope at the flagship UK store of our client – a major multinational electronics and technology manufacturer—grew to include the daily disinfection of touchpoints.

This commitment to consumer health and safety in store was also crucial to maintaining visitor confidence, but the new cleaning processes involved a higher workload. Cobot cleaning—where collaborative robots work alongside ISS placemakers—offered the opportunity to remove a large portion of manual vacuuming tasks, freeing up our team to focus on value-added services.

Solution

Our cobots have been responsible for a large amount of vacuuming, allowing our placemakers to focus on more in-depth surface cleaning and touchpoints, including spot cleaning and more thorough Covid-19 disinfection methods. Staff had initial questions about how the technology would work in the dynamic store environment—but found that the adaptive nature of the unit meant it could navigate the changing landscape of the space with ease. Training was provided for our placemakers, and the cobot settings also included options for different languages, helping to ensure that every member of the team feels totally comfortable operating the new technology from the outset.

The deployment of cobotic cleaners has given back the team 30% of their daily time.”

Result

The deployment of cobotic cleaners has given back the team 30% of their daily time, allowing them to focus on other value-added tasks—in fact, a single cobot vacuumed almost 40,000 square metres of floor space in just five months.
