Corporate responsibility
Developing and growing our people
With over 44,000 employees in the UK, we are fortunate to have a wealth of talent in our company. We take great pride in nurturing and promoting talent, focusing on widening the skills and capabilities of our front-line teams to take on more varied roles, so that they have a platform to build a career within ISS.

apprentices032Prioritising internal promotions and mobility for our employees and multi-skilling our front-line employees makes commercial sense, as well as contributing towards social mobility in the UK. By creating an environment that empowers each employee to unleash their full potential and grow, we help to move cohorts of people from lower to higher skilled work and thereby supporting income growth.

A core leadership principle of ISS is to ensure we actively develop our people. We have taken a fresh look at our approach to learning and development within ISS UK by introducing a suite of new apprenticeships and providing a selection of programmes open to all employees.

These programmes will give our employees an opportunity to develop nationally recognised skills and qualifications while working. Moreover, they will enable them to demonstrate the ability and readiness to take on more responsibilities or a new role.
Integration@ISS will focus on front-line employees working on our largest multiservice accounts and seek to transform job roles limited to one or two tasks into multi-skilled job roles that give them the flexibility to work across different services. The aim would be to create teams who can operate interchangeably as cleaners, mailroom assistants, security or other roles as needed. In so doing, this will optimise our workforce on customer accounts where we provide a range of integrated services.

We are excited about piloting Integration@ISS in the UK on selected key accounts and the opportunities for career growth and development it will bring to our front-line employees.
The ISS University is the Group wide learning academy representing our leadership development programmes which are delivered both globally, regionally and locally.

ISS University

A critical building block of the ISS University is our Key Account Manager Certification Programme – a modular development programme focused on leaders of our largest customer accounts. To date 93% of our key account leaders have completed this programme in the UK. We aim to evaluate the impact of these and other initiatives by monitoring internal promotions and mobility among our employees in 2017.
