Pride

For the first time ever in 2018, ISS employees attended the Pride in London and Newcastle Pride parades. ISS sites and offices all over the country also held their own celebrations and fundraising activities including sharing information, quizzes, posters and pledge boards.

ISS is one of the founder members of LGBT+ in FM, a collaboration of organisations with a mission to make Facilities Management the most attractive, inclusive and supportive industry for the LGBT+ community in the UK and Ireland and drive fairness, inclusion and respect for LGBT+ people.

Nationality moments

Our cleaning team for a major banking client decided to celebrate their rich diversity and different cultural backgrounds by including nationality moments within their regular team meetings. On a monthly basis, a different member of the team put together a simple presentation that gave their colleagues an overview on the history, traditions and culture of their home country. They have even brought in traditional food to share with colleagues. The initiative has proven hugely popular and to date there have been nationality moments on countries ranging from Bolivia to Slovenia.

I have been hugely proud of the way my team have got on board with this initiative and the results have been so positive. I have been overwhelmed by the amount of effort they have put into their presentations, often having to ask friends for help as they may have never used PowerPoint before, and for baking delicious traditional cakes for us all to try. It is great to see how engaged and interested they are in each other and to see them talking about their countries with such pride.

Employers Network for Equality and Inclusion Awards

We are proud to have been named winners of two enei awards: ‘Employers of the Year Private Sector’ and ‘Inclusive Culture (Private Sector)’.

"I am delighted that the enei award presenters identified that they were ‘astonished’ with our 80% score on the question. I am treated with respect as an individual, we are really proud of this feedback too. This data was taken from our annual employee engagement survey, where all of our people are invited to give feedback about how engaged and enabled they feel about working at ISS."

Stephanie Hamilton, Director of People and Culture, ISS UK and Ireland
