LGBT+ Awareness and Pledge Day

To mark World FM Day and the International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHO), we took our first step to engage our employees in building a diverse and inclusive culture. At our offices around the UK, we held a series of coordinated events to encourage any willing employees to show their support for LGBT+ colleagues by signing a pledge board. To mark these events, senior leaders gave a series of short talks setting out their commitment to supporting diversity and inclusion and personal stories from LGBT+ colleagues were shared. The response from our employees was fantastic and a positive indication of their likely support for our forthcoming diversity and inclusion approach.
Nationality moments

Our cleaning team for a major banking client decided to celebrate their rich diversity and different cultural backgrounds by including nationality moments within their regular team meetings. On a monthly basis, a different member of the team put together a simple presentation that gave their colleagues an overview on the history, traditions and culture of their home country. They have even brought in traditional food to share with colleagues. The initiative has proven hugely popular and to date there have been nationality moments on countries ranging from Bolivia to Slovenia.

“I have been hugely proud of the way my team have got on board with this initiative and the results have been so positive. I have been overwhelmed by the amount of effort they have put into their presentations, often having to ask friends for help as they may have never used PowerPoint before, and for baking delicious traditional cakes for us all to try. It is great to see how engaged and interested they are in each other and to see them talking about their countries with such pride.”
