Mediclean sponsor Day of Excellence
The ISS Mediclean sponsored Hospital Caterers Association National Service
Excellence Day aims to highlight how improvements in service can enhance patient
mealtimes and in turn, wellbeing and recovery.
Over the last few years, there have been many initiatives within the National
Health Service including the Government’s Better Hospital Food Programme, that
have endeavored to bring about changes to the quality of hospital food;
Caterers, like ISS Mediclean have been instrumental in driving forward major
improvements in patient food and beverage services so much so that recent
surveys found unprecedented levels of patient satisfaction with hospital food.
The Hospital Caterers Association is staging
National Service Excellence Day, July 5 to help kick start a nationwide
campaign that encourages greater focus on service at ward level. The campaign
urges caterers to play a more pivotal role with clinical and dietetic colleagues
in ensuring that patients see improvements in their food service and that they
benefit from the food being delivered to hospital wards.
This year, ISS Mediclean is the main sponsor of the National Day of
Excellence and will be showcasing their contribution at more than 35 different
hospitals, including the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, Londonwhere Focus Groups of
staff and patients meet to discuss ways of how they provide the best possible
environment for everyone, which is one of the key topics of the day.
The Company will be treating the day as a celebration of what can be achieved
in partnership with their NHS Clients.
Neil Watson-Jones, Chairman, Hospital Caterers Association says:
“Improving standards is far more than just about the quality of the food on the
plate, it is about enhancing a patient’s whole mealtime experience. Good quality
food is no good to anyone unless it actually gets into the mouths and stomachs
of patients and that requires greater communication and collaboration between
the dietetic, clinical and catering teams. No matter how much effort is put into
improving hospital cuisine, the nutritional value of an uneaten meal will always
be zero. Just small touches can make a big difference to patients’ lives”.
