ISS Eaton name new Charity Support
At their recent conference ISS Eaton announced that they have adopted Hospitality Action as their chosen charity for 2008. By doing so, they have joined with ISS Defence who has supported this charity for the past three years.
Hospitality Action was originally founded as the ‘London Coffee House Keepers Association’ for the purpose of “relieving aged and decayed members of the trade, their widows and orphans” who “ from reverses of fortune (to which we are all liable) might be reduced from a state of comparative prosperity to the alternative of dragging out a miserable existence within the walls of a workhouse” (quotations from Rules and Regulations LCHKA 1837)
Things have moved on a great deal since then, but some things do not change.
Each year Hospitality Action helps its beneficiaries financially in many different ways. There are many reasons why people need HA’s help.
In 2005 (the latest year with available figures) HA spent £403,688 on its Grants and Family Members Scheme with a total of 1,222 people receiving financial and emotional support. 51% of Grant recipients that year were below 60 years of age.
The charity has a high profile advertising campaign underway at the moment with ‘Celebrity Master Chefs’ including Antony Worrall Thompson, Anton Edelmann, Anton Mosimann, Heston Blumenthal, Marco Pierre White and Raymond Blanc who are shown depicting tragedies often experienced by the charity’s beneficiaries when they seek their help.
