ISS Mediclean - A Mindful Employer
ISS Mediclean, the leading healthcare facility service provider, recently created a new specialist Mental Health and PCT Division. This was in recognition of the differing needs and services required within these sectors.
The new division, lead up by Divisional Director, Andrew Gipson has signed up as a MINDFUL EMPLOYER®
Andrew Gipson said:
“As a Company working in close partnership with the NHS it is important to show our commitment to improving the working lives of those affected by mental health. It is often difficult for people with mental health problems to get a job as unfortunately there is still a stigma attached. ISS Mediclean are committed to providing non-judgemental and proactive support to individual staff that experience mental health issues.”
The Charter for Employers who are Positive about Mental Health is a voluntary agreement seeking to support employers in working within the spirit of its positive approach. The Charter is one element of the MINDFUL EMPLOYER® initiative.
MINDFUL EMPLOYER® is led by employers and aimed at increasing awareness of mental health in the work place and supporting businesses in recruiting and retaining staff. A wide range of employers have been involved in planning the initiative which gives businesses ongoing practical support, training materials, an online discussion forum, support networks and assistance from other employers.

MINDFUL EMPLOYER® is facilitated by WorkWAYS, a service run by Devon Partnership NHS Trust, which provides information, guidance and practical support for people whose mental health affects their ability to find or retain employment, training, education or voluntary work.
The Charter is a voluntary set of aspirations and signing it is a tangible demonstration that an employer wants to work towards better practice: it's not a policy or a target - its one step along a journey of improving working life for people who experience stress, anxiety, depression and other mental ill health. ISS Mediclean have joined more than 470 other employers in making this commitment, many more are linked in through local organisations. For more information, visit www.mindfulemployer.net/charter.html
