ISS Mediclean, which supplies all the soft fm services such as cleaning and catering at the Worcestershire Royal Hospital, has marked the award of an Investors in People certification by unveiling a commemorative plaque in the hospital’s main entrance atrium.

The Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust’s Chairman, Mr Michael O’Riordan, who was accompanied by the Chief Executive, John Rostill and ISS Mediclean’s Managing Director, Simon Cox, performed the ceremony.

The Chairman paid tribute to the staff who had worked hard to achieve the award in less than two years, and he also recognised the fact that ISS Mediclean had been able to retain so many of the original staff who had transferred under the TUPE regulations when the new PFI funded hospital opened in 2002.

Mr O’Riordan said: “The staff here really deserve this award for their dedication and energy in upholding the highest possible standards, no matter what their duties are. We’re delighted to mark the IIP certificate with this plaque, which should serve as a recognition of the good work put in by ISS, and a reminder in years to come of what can be achieved through such dedication.”

As further recognition of the achievement Simon Cox presented the Trust with a digital projector, which was received by Maria McNamee, Professional Development Advisor for the Trust. Ms McNamee said that her team, and the hospital clinicians, would now be able to give presentations and training sessions anywhere in the Trust, making such events much more accessible.

ISS Mediclean employs more than 400 staff at the hospital, providing cleaning, housekeeping, catering, portering, switchboard, help desk, linen services, car park management, security and post room services.
