| ISS Waterers Landscape won the grounds maintenance contract for the
Royal Borough in February 2000 and has recently been awarded a 2 year
extension. Valued at £1.4 million with 50 full-time staff, it
is our largest single local authority contract and includes parks, sports
grounds including cleaning of changing areas and facilities, verges, play
area maintenance and cemeteries including burials. The contract also
includes all Windsor Housing Association properties, over 100 Local
Authority schools and Ray Mill Island where we are responsible for the
feeding and upkeep of exotic birds and guinea pigs!
The Royal Borough, with its blend of rich history and successful modern
business development, covers 76 square miles, just 12 miles to the west of
London. The main towns of Windsor, Maidenhead and Ascot are
surrounded by 14 villages, linked by a common thread – the River
Thames.
Home to more than 20 visitor attractions, the most famous of which is
Windsor Castle, in total 7 million visitors come to the Royal Borough each
year. Visitors, as well as creating revenue for the Borough, create
a great deal of litter – and part of our contract is to clear all litter
by 10.00am every day. We also are required to inspect every play
area by the same time each day.
As well as looking after all the roundabouts in the Borough, we also
sponsor one roundabout ourselves, providing stunning bedding displays all
year round. |
