- Extensive Fire in Main Dealership retail premises, Workshop and Offices.
Oxyacetylene gas cylinders exploded resulting in the sections of the roof
collapsing.
- Widespread smoke and water contamination throughout 8,000 sq ft car
showroom, workshop and offices.
- Affected equipment included workshop tooling, ramps, diagnostic equipment
and computers.

- Restoration project bringing in excess of tens of thousands of
pounds saving in business interruption and equipment renewal.
- A team of 20 restoration technicians worked through the weekend and into
the following week to ensure the internal building structures were
decontaminated. The areas included the MOT Bay, the Service Reception,
Offices and Stores areas. Temporary carpeting was fitted in readiness
for re-opening.
- All affected computer systems and associated machinery and equipment were
transported from site to our regional workshop and thoroughly decontaminated
to remove water and smoke deposits.
Benefits
- The garage was able to re-commence trading, just over one week from the
time of the incident so returning to normal business trading with the minimum
disruption ensuring that customer loyalty was retained, together with a
minimum loss of trading profit.
- Local residents were allowed to return to their homes after the immediate
initial clean up works over the weekend. The facilities of the
dealership, including express tyre fit and workshop garage were returned to
the local community negating the need to travel long distances for the
service.
