ISS Facility Services is pleased to maintain its inclusion in Business in the Community’s annual benchmark of responsible business, the Corporate Responsibility Index (CR Index)
ISS achieved a score of 85%, earning 2.5 stars.
The CR Index helps businesses to assess how successfully they are integrating responsible business practice into their operations by evaluating factors ranging from a company’s culture and values to its environmental impact.
The ISS score of 85% means it has developed and publically reported on all relevant CR policies. As part of this, ISS gained top marks in sustainability and community management.
Tim Proctor, Director of Health, Safety, Environment, Quality & Corporate Responsibility, ISS said, “The CR Index rating is more challenging each year, therefore each participating organisation must truly stretch itself. “We’re delighted to have made notable improvements in our environmental management this year – especially in waste management. “We have in fact been shortlisted for the MRW National Recycling awards which are designed to recognise excellence in recycling and waste management.”
Richard Sykes, CEO ISS UK & Ireland commented, “The improvements in our corporate CR strategy and community management are areas of particular pride for all of us at ISS. Our CR rating is thanks to the great work by our people and their commitment to progress sustainability and community management for ourselves and our clients”. Sykes added, “I’m particularly proud of our work with young people through our Prince’s Trust corporate sponsorship and of our Armed Forces Covenant pledge to support our Reservists and ex-armed forces personnel. “As always, we strive to innovate and improve not just as a company, but for our industry sector overall.”
Stephen Howard, Chief Executive, Business in the Community said: “Genuine responsible business starts in the engine room of companies. It’s about how companies translate their values into behaviour and decision making, create the right culture and drive societal and economic value in the process. The CR Index helps companies take an in-depth look at their business from the inside out and it’s encouraging to see companies increasingly integrated responsible business into business at all levels. This year’s Index also reinforces the opportunity companies have to think much longer term to address pressing issues such as climate change. I congratulate ISS for achieving its ranking and look forward to working together to create a fairer society and a more sustainable future.”
Achieving a 2.5 rating in the CR Index means that ISS:
- Has integrated CR principles into the organisation and has processes in place to ensure these are upheld
- Has appointed a Board member to be accountable for different areas of CR
- Includes CR objectives as part of senior managers and Board members performance review, although they are not necessarily remunerated against these
- Is identifying CR related risks and opportunities as part of a formal process
- Has reliable baseline data to develop appropriate KPIs, set relevant targets that will demonstrate performance improvement
